As Told Over Brunch

Our Totally Non-Brunchy Holiday Gift Giving Guide for 2019

I’ve found that people think that all I think about is brunch, so wanted to manage people’s expectations that this holiday guide doesn’t make one mention of brunch. Well — past that one. Cazey and I put our heads together to make the essential holiday gifting giving guide. Let’s get rocking.

Our 2019 Holiday Gift Giving Guide

Keva Style Earrings

I LOVE a good statement earring more than any other accessory, and wow are Keva Style earrings a statement. Keva Style is a woman-owned business based out of Richmond and they hand make earrings and bracelets out of leather. I love the colors and soft texture of the earrings, plus they are light and comfortable for full-day wear. I own a few different pairs and love wearing them because they’re so fun — and I get so many compliments on them!

The earrings range from tame to semi-tame (left) to a bit more fun, like the double layered earrings (right)! I can’t wait to gift a few pairs of these out this season (everyone please acted surprised when you open them).

Allett Wallet

As you know, Cazey and I love to travel. If you have people on your list who also love to travel, consider getting them something practical, yet a bit lavish. Take for example the Allett wallet, which comes in both men’s and women’s designs. I loved the Oxblood red, while Cazey rocks the navy. Most of their wallets come with RFID blocking to help protect your cards as you’re taking on the world, from Thailand to South Africa.

These wallets can fit any budget too, coming in both leather and nylon. Check out the men’s wallets and women’s wallets from Allett.

Salt Lamp

What’ something that you definitely don’t need, but certainly nice to have? Bingo! A Himalayan salt lamp. My brother got me a Levoit salt lamp for my birthday this year, and I’ve loved it! It emits a varying level of light and plenty of good vibes.

Plus, it’s strangely heavy, which makes people think you really got them something major.

Check out the one I have, the Levoit Large Salt Lamp.

Related: If you’re looking to really lean into the self care theme, consider an essential oil diffuser with your favorite oil.

Stitch Fix Gift Card

Gift your friends a bit of mystery this year and get them a Stitch Fix gift card (or their first box). I have had a love/hate relationship with Stitch Fix, but that’s part of the fun! My last few boxes have been dynamite.

Related: To offset helping someone buy more things, help them clear some of the old stuff out with a gift card to The House Finch, my favorite professional organizer!

Kombucha Brewing Kit

The kombuncha brewing kit my sister gifted to me last year is also an awesome gift! I’m not a chef, but brewing kombucha is easy enough to get the hang of and is an exciting new hobby to gift someone.

She got me the Humble Bumble Kombucha Starter Set, which came with literally everything you need to start brewing. As of late, I flew a bit too close to the sun, overbrewed kombucha, took a few months to drink it and then started grad school, so I’ve been out of my brewing routine, but plan to begin again soon!

Related: I too tried to gift my dad a hobby and got him a bonsai tree starter kit, which I got delivered to my parents house. My parents live in Connecticut and the baby tree didn’t like the weather when it got delivered on the snowy porch, so I accidentally gifted my dad a dead bonsai tree. Whoops.

Comfy Recovery Shoes

It’s here! It’s here! It’s boot season! I just got Telic’s after-sport boots and honestly might never take them off. While the boots are designed to be worn by athletes after a competition, there’s no reason to limit yourself in these puppies. With the soft fur, pillow-soft comfort and sleek design, I might even try wearing them to bed. I’m kidding — I think.

Nothing says “I love you,” like some ridiculously comfortable shoes!

A gag gift

Golly, I love a good gag gift. What’s great about a gag gift is it usually saves you some money, but also shows the gift getter that you know them well enough (and love them enough) to poke some fun at them.

Coasters!

Coasters, am I right!? Coasters say, “I respect your belongings enough to help you protect them,” but then can also show your thoughtful side. For example, Cazey has gotten me word-related foreign coasters, and another friend got me Richmond-themed coasters. Then once I got my ex-boyfriend’s parents blue rock coasters since I knew they liked blue rocks.

Coasters are the perfect way to customize a gift for the gift getter, and to satiate my undying need for having a designated place to put down a drink.

Thank you to our friends at Deep Creek PR for their help with our gift guide this year!
